Atmore Relay for Life Chair Gayle Johnson hands out this year’s awards Friday night at Tom Byrne Park.

After an exhaustive and physical six-hour event to raise money for the American Cancer Society, the 14th annual Atmore Relay for Life event had raised nearly $60,000 Friday night at Tom Byrne Park.

As midnight closed in, team members gathered for this year’s awards ceremony where Atmore Community Hospital’s team came out on top with a bevy of accolades.

Relay for Life Chair Gayle Johnson thanked the hard working volunteers for their months of service to the fight against one of the world’s most deadly diseases before dismissing the crowd with the reminder that Relay’s efforts to fight cancer would soon begin once again.
