Eugene Talmadge McDonald

Eugene Talmadge (Bud) McDonald died Monday, May 7, 2012.

He was the son of Mamie K. and Clinton W. McDonald, of Glasscock County, Ga.

Bud was born Dec. 25, 1933 in Edgehill, Ga. and moved to Augusta, Ga. in 1942 to attend John S. Davison and Lawton B. Evans schools.

He left Augusta Richmond Academy to join the U.S. Navy in December 1950 serving in the Korean Conflict (War) until 1954. The Navy Diving won his love of the sea.

He moved to Pensacola, Fla. in 1956 and was hired by Gulf Power Company where he loved his friends and company and stayed with the company for 40 years.

In 1960 along with his friends in the diving world, he helped form the National Association of Underwater Instructors (NAUI) and was  a member for more than 48 years until his death.

He was also a charter member of the Escambia Search and Rescue for Pensacola and proudly served for 24 years. He was instructor for the American Red Cross for 25 years and was an EMT instructor through the American Heart Association for 20 years.

His wife, Dorothy Fish McDonald; mother, Mattie Kitchens Bowers; father, Clinton W. McDonald and borther Junior McDonald, of Augusta, preceded him in death.

Survivors include his daughter, Diane (Liam)  Lee, of Austin, Texas; sister Sherry (Jim) Sanders, of Clearwater, S.C. and their kids Marty, Debbie and Darla; his grandchildren, Brittani Beasley, Elliot and Owen Lee, of Austin; his mother-in-law, Carolyn Fish, of Austin; a special love, Jeanelle McKissack and son Eddie, of Atmore; the Suttle Family, of Fairhope; the Kitchens clan; the Barber clan; the McDonald clan; the Sanders clan and the Hilson clan.

Funeral services were  held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 12, 2012, at Faith Chapel Funeral Home North-Cantonment. Interment was held at Fellowship Baptist Cemetery in Glasscock County on Monday Sheppard Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

The family received friends at the funeral home from 1 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 12, 2012.
