MLK league in action

Carlos Richardson was the catalyst for a Blue Flames victory in their match up against the Braves last Saturday at Houston Avery Park.

Richardson went 2-for-2 with three RBIs and scored two runs, as the Blue Flames handed the Braves their first loss of the summer in Martin Luther King Little League Baseball action.

Trailing 11-6, the Braves put together a last inning charge in the top of the fourth inning, but could only score three runs with Tyree Stots, Roddarius Dailey and Eric McMillan crossing the plate before the game ended.

Early in the contest it looked like the Blue Flames would run away with the win, putting together a nine-run second inning to take an 11-4 lead. During the inning several players scored, including Richardson who ripped his second home run of the contest to knock in JaQuan Morgan and LaKarlton Nye.

The game opened with the Braves taking a 3-2 lead after the first inning when Dailey, Allen Patterson and Jordan Patterson all scored, but the second inning would turn in the Blue Flames favor, as they rolled to the 11-9 victory.

Braves, 6, Mets 1
Roddarius Dailey put together a strong showing for the Braves last Thursday against the Mets at Houston Avery Park.

Dailey was one of two Braves players to score two runs, while going 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Braves to their third Martin Luther King Little League victory of the season.

Dailey opened the game with a lead off single and was knocked in by Allen Patterson’s double to put the Braves up 1-0, while Patterson extended the lead to two runs when Jordan Patterson hit a double of his own.

The Braves went up 5-0 in the top of the second inning with Eric McMillan, Erica McMillan and Dailey putting runs on the scoreboard.
The Mets finally got on the board in the bottom of the inning with D’Amon Lewis getting on board with a single and being sent home on a single by LaBarron Weaver.

With a four-run lead, the Braves put the game away in the top of the fourth inning with Eric McMillan scoring his second run of the game to put the final score at 6-1.

Blue Flames 19, Mets 7
The Blue Flames scored 19 runs and earned their first victory of the season on May 22 defeating the Mets 19-7 in Martin Luther King Little League action at Houston Avery Park.

The big surge came in the top of the second inning when the Blue Flames scored 16 runs to build a 16-2 lead. In the inning, Frank Gulley, JaQuan Morgan, Roderick Plaines, Carlos Richardson, Dimitri Wiggins, DeAnthony Gulley, LaKarlton Nye, Dangelo Parker, Isaiah Mason, Dee Wiggins and Dee Gulley all scored runs.

Richardson scored one final run for the Blue Flames in the top of the third to put them up 19-4, and the game ended when the Mets could only score three runs in the bottom of the inning. Scoring for the Mets were Da’Mon Lewis, TyQuale Taylor and DaQuan Simmons.
