Thomas Bradford Sturdivant

Thomas Bradford Sturdivant, 63, died Friday, June 29, 2012, at Providence Hospital in Mobile. Sturdivant was born in Jacksonville, Fla., and had been a resident of Monroe County for 13 years. Sturdivant worked with the Poarch Creek Indians as a housing inspector. He had also worked in law enforcement as a police officer. Sturdivant attended Enon Baptist Church and was a member of the National Association of Housing Inspectors and the International Code Council. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Roy J. Sturdivant and Willie Mae Brazeale; step-father, Walter Mooney, a brother, Billy Sturdivant, and a sister, Geneca Pettitt.

Survivors include his wife, Debra Lynn Sturdivant of Frisco City; four daughters, Katrina Sturdivant (Weezer) Harris of Mobile, Krystal Sturdivant (Gary) Beckenbaugh of St. Augustine, Fla., Rebecca Sturdivant (Edward) Dick of Franklinville, N.J., and Kimberly Sturdivant (Curtis) Skipper of Excel; five brothers, Roy A. Sturdivant, Joe Sturdivant, both of Perry, Fla., Stanley Sturdivant of St. Augustine, Fla., Carlton Sturdivant of Excel, and Cecil Sturdivant of Mexia, nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and a number of of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were Monday, July 2, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Monroe Chapel Funeral Home with Reverend Steve Dunn officiating. Burial will follow in Enon Cemetery with Military honors. Visitation was Sunday, July 1, 2012, from 6 until 8 p.m. at the funeral home
