The Alabama Department of Agriculture and Industries Consumer Food Safety inspectors are conducting recall effectiveness checks in retail grocery stores and wholesale food warehouses for the expanded recall on peanut butter products.
There have been a number of recalls related to the expanded Sunland Inc. recall of products which include peanut butter and other products made with nuts and seeds. Among those companies initiating related recalls are Chattanooga Bakery Inc., Fairytale Brownies, Falcon Trading Company/Sun Ridge Farms, Giant Food, Gretchen Shoebox Express, Harry and David, Jer’s Chocolates, Justin’s, Late July Snacks, Newman’s Own Organics, Oregon Ice Cream Company, Stop & Shop Supermarket Company, Whole Foods Market and Xan Confections.
According to officials with the ADAI, consumers should not eat the recalled products. Officials said this is especially important for children under the age of five, elderly adults and people with weak immune systems. Consumers are encouraged to dispose of any recalled product or return the product to the store where it was purchased.
