Addie Belle Copeland

ATMORE — Addie Belle Copeland, 89, passed away Sunday, Sept. 30, 2012.

She taught school for 38 years and the last 25 of those years were at Davis Elementary School. She retired in 1980. She was an active member of First Baptist Church and worked tirelessly for many years teaching Sunday school, Training Union, Vacation Bible School and initiated the Bible Drill program there.

She was preceded in death by her husband, E.C. (Carl) Copeland.

Survivors include her daughter, Sheila Copeland of Montgomery; her son and daughter-in-law, Darrell and Anita Copeland of Cary, N.C.; two grandchildren, Jared Copeland (Ali) of Austin, Texas and Laura Copeland Pollard (Terry) of Tulsa, Okla. and three great grandchildren, Jack and Chuck Copeland and Myra Pollard.

Services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012 from the First Baptist Church of Atmore with the Rev. Arnold Hendrix officiating. Interment and Graveside followed at 3 p.m. in Longino Baptist Church Cemetery at Philadelphia, Miss. Family received friends from 9 a.m. until service time Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2012 at the First Baptist Church of Atmore.

Honorary Pallbearers will be members of the Dr. John Smith Sunday School Class.

Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home, Inc. was in charge of all arrangements.
