The two men arrested earlier this month for allegedly shooting to death a Davisville, Fla. storeowner during a botched robbery attempt, were indicted on murder charges Tuesday in Pensacola.
Malcolm Troy McGhee, 24, and Brent Dewayne Lambeth, 20, were taken into custody on Wednesday, Nov. 7 and charged with the shooting death of 76-year-old Thomas Gerald Kroll one day earlier at the O’Yes Lotto store just south of Atmore.
The indictment comes after McGhee, who was arrested in Alabama, spent the better part of a month refusing to sign extradition papers that would allow him to be moved from the Escambia County Detention center in Brewton to the Pensacola Jail. Lambeth was arrested in Florida and immediately transported to Pensacola. McGhee was finally moved to Pensacola after a warrant from Florida Gov. Rick Scott allowed him to be transported across state lines.
According to information from the Escambia County (Fla.) Sheriff’s Department, both men remain in jail on no bond and are scheduled for an arraignment hearing Thursday.
