Gospel Music Hall of Fame member Buddy Liles will make an appearance in Atmore later this month.
Liles is scheduled to perform Saturday, March 23 at Bethel United Methodist Church on Alabama Highway 21.
Liles is an accomplished artist who has won prestigious music awards, including the Marvin Norcross Award and the Favorite Bass Award, presented by Singing News magazine.
Liles spent more than 25 years as part of the popular gospel band, the Florida Boys Quartet and has performed all over the world, including an appearance at the Congressional Breakfast in Washington, D.C.
Bethel member Alvin Owens said the church is lucky to have such an accomplished and faithful singer visiting their congregation.
“I was looking at his schedule and he goes to Ohio and all over the place,” Owens said. “I am (very excited).”
According to information released by Liles, he accepted the lord at a young age in Newport, Ky. and has been singing gospel music in some form ever since.
Liles got his first full time singing job with the Orrell Quartet, of Detroit, in 1963. For many years he also sang with the Landmark Quartet, of Landmark
Baptist Temple in Cincinnati. After his many years with the Florida Boys Quartet, Liles set out to embark on a solo career and has been touring the country singing gospel music since.
His performance in Atmore will begin at 7 p.m.
