Theodore Qualls

Mr. Theodore Qualls, 83, of Goodway, passed away Friday, April 12, 2013, at Providence Hospital in Mobile.

A lifelong resident of Monroe County, he lived in Goodway. After 32 years of employment he retired from Monsanto where he worked as a chemical operator supervisor. After retirement, he earned his electrical degree and heating and cooling degree from Jeff Davis Community College. He was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church, where he served as Chairman of the Deacons, Sunday School Director, Budget Committee member and church maintenance handyman. He was a Korean War Veteran of the United States Army.

His parents, Andrew and Mandy Qualls; an infant son; four brothers, Jim Qualls, Wilson Qualls, Jessie Qualls and Henderson Qualls; and two sisters, Elma Hanks and an infant sister preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth Ann Qualls of Goodway; his daughters, Patricia Powell and husband Steve of Uriah and Charlyne White and husband Allen of Daphne; two grandchildren, Steven Powell and Daniel Wright; and two great grandchildren, Natalie Hinson and Beau Wright.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 16, 2013, at Poplar Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. Walter Sheffield and the Rev. Diane Everette officiating. Burial followed in Poplar Springs Cemetery. Visitation was held from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday, April 15, 2013, at the funeral home.
