Beating Baker High School last week was just the beginning for the Northview High School Chiefs’ baseball team.

Locking down the second seed for next week’s district tournament means they will get a bye before taking on either Jay or Freeport in the tournament’s semifinal round on Tuesday at 4 p.m. at Baker.

A win will put Northview in the playoffs.

Coach Martin Lister said his team will have to play fundamentally sound in order to win the game.

“It’ll come down to two things,” he said. “We have to play error free and we have to hit the baseball. I think we’ll pitch, but we have to hit and play error free.”
