The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office has issued a warrant for a suspect they believe pulled the trigger during what was initially called a drive-by shooting Saturday morning in Freemanville.
According to Investigator Justin Hetrick, deputies are searching for Joshua Wilson, of Atmore, in connection with the crime. Hetrick said the shots occurred outside Thymes Place, a bar on Freemanville Road, Saturday around 2 a.m. after Wilson and Roger Hall, also of Atmore, got into an altercation over Hall’s girlfriend.
Hetrick said Hall left the bar following the altercation with Wilson. Upon Hall’s return, Hetrick said gunfire broke out between the two men.
Hall was struck by the gunfire, as was Charles Finklea, who Hetrick described as an innocent by standard.
Hetrick said Hall has been interviewed by deputies and expects a warrant for his arrest, also for assault, to soon be issued.
Wilson, a black male, approximately six foot tall and 270 pounds, is wanted for assault in the first degree.
Deputies are asking that anyone with any information call the Escambia County Sheriff’s Department at (251) 809-0741 or Atmore Police Department at (251) 368-9141.
As of press time Friday, neither man was in custody.
