A man shot in the leg by a homeowner while allegedly burglarizing a Walnut Hill home last month now has new charges to face.
Ricky Dewayne Taylor, 33, 407 Front Street in Century, Fla. was arrested by Escambia County Sheriff’s deputies in late May after he and a woman, Teresa Sunday, were caught allegedly burglarizing a home. Taylor was shot by the homeowner after he allegedly lunged at the man while he was speaking to authorities on the phone.
Monday, Taylor received additional charges of felony burglary and felony larceny after he was identified in a photo lineup by a victim who said Taylor also stole from him in May.
According to the arrest report from the Escambia County (Fla.) Sheriff’s Office, the victim reported catching Taylor outside of his barn on Klondike Road in Pensacola on May 5 at approximately 5:45 a.m., where he allegedly stole a red duffle bag, five extension cords and one five gallon gas can. According to the report, the victim confronted Taylor, at which time he fled the scene. A short time later, the victim reported a suspicious blue/silver Lincoln Town Car with Alabama plates parked nearby. The victim photographed the license plate. Shortly afterward, the victim again saw the Town Car, this time being driven by Taylor, according to the report. The victim said he lost track of the vehicle on Wilde Lake Boulevard in Pine Forest, but was able to point Taylor out in the lineup held earlier this month.
According to the report, deputies have verified the Town Car in question does belong to Taylor. The stolen items, worth approximately $450, were recovered.
Taylor also faces theft charges in Alabama and is currently in jail in Pensacola on $150,000 bond.
