Warm weather and plenty of produce and other products welcomed shoppers at Saturday’s Market in the Park event.

It was a clear, sunny day for the second Market in the Park event of 2013 Saturday in the park at First National Bank and Trust and a crowd took advantage of the weather.

“It’s been busy all day,” Atmore Area Chamber of Commerce Director Sheryl Vickery said Saturday. “We’ve had a really good crowd.”

From watermelons to fresh vegetables, to vinegars and bread, the crowd had plenty  to choose from Saturday and Ken Kelley of the Alabama Cooperative Extension System was on hand answering any and all questions.

Vickery said the event was busier than the first Market, held in June, and is hopeful the support will carry over to the third and final event in August.

Vickery said Saturday’s event had more vendors than June’s Market in the Park and said any local farmers or producers of other goods are welcome to be part of August’s Market, free of charge.

“All we ask is that the products be grown or made locally,” she said.
