Northwest Escambia sophomore defenders tackle a Baker ball carrier Saturday.

The Northwest Escambia Eagles swept Baker to open their season Saturday.

The 5-and-6-year-old freshman team defeated Baker, 37-0. Kaden Dove scored on the opening drive.

Zyonne Wesley had three touchdowns, one of which occurred after Dove forced a Baker player to fumble. Wesley picked up the ball and returned it for a touchdown.

Liam Hatcher scored one touchdown and an extra point. Jackson Simmons also scored in the win.

The sophomore team won 14-7. Kaden Odom scored a touchdown and extra point. Luke Bridges recovered a Baker fumble, which resulted in a touchdown.

The juniors defeated Baker, 40-7, in a blowout win. Jaden Cunningham ran in two touchdowns and one extra point. Jaheem Durant scored two touchdowns, running one in from more than 50 yards out.

Jayden Jackson also scored two touchdowns, one of which was on defense. Michael Merchant scored an extra point.

The seniors defeated Baker in a 44-0 blowout.

Trent Kite scored two touchdowns in the win. Seth Killam threw a long touchdown pass to Keeton Solmonson and returned an interception for a touchdown.

Aunterio Minor ran in a touchdown and Cameron Cloud threw a touchdown pass to Tanner Deese.

NWE travels to Uriah on Saturday with games at 2 p.m.
