“I’m excited to be home in Atmore and have the opportunity to get involved with the community again,” Barnett said. “I’m excited to form a close-knit bond with the residents and to bring my cheerful and optimistic attitude to The Meadows and put my own personal touch on it.”

Barnett, 24, is a 2007 graduate of Escambia County High School and a 2010 graduate of Jefferson Davis Community College, where she received her Associate’s Degree in Nursing to become a registered nurse.

Barnett has worked in the medical surgical unit at both Atmore Community Hospital and D.W. McMillan Hospital in Brewton and also spent time working in the OB/GYN department at D.W. McMillan. Barnett said that while she enjoyed hospital work, she feels the opportunity at The Meadows is a better all-around fit for her.

“I was hesitant about going from one aspect of nursing to another,” Barnett said. “I loved delivering babies, but when I walked into The Meadows for my first interview, I immediately felt home and like this is where I’m supposed to be. This my calling.”

Barnett, who was named The Meadows administrator on Monday, Aug. 5, said she already feels as if a bond has formed between herself and the residents.
“I’m a nurse; I can be compassionate to anyone in any area of nursing, but at The Meadows, I get to form such a close bond with the residents,” she said. “I love how comfortable they feel approaching me with their concerns and how they already value my opinion.”

Barnett said she is looking forward to a long career at home in Atmore and is thankful to have been put in a position that allows her to give back to the community in a manner as meaningful as caring for community members’ loved ones.

“I, along with the rest of the staff, are here for the residents,” she said. “I am very appreciative of the residents, staff and family members for their patience during this transition. I love my residents; I love my staff; and I love being home.”

Barnett is married to Matthew Barnett. She is the daughter of Tim and Marcy McAnally, of Atmore.
