Four members of a local mixed martial arts team will travel to Biloxi on Saturday to take part in Atlas Fights.

Team Titan is sending Atmore’s Michael Mitchell, Brewton’s Stephen Mathews, Dallas Scruggs and Justin Ramer, both of Perdido, to the IP Casino for the event, said coach Jim Jernigan.

Jernigan said Atlas Fights is a “good bit bigger” than Warrior Promotions, which puts on the War events in Atmore. He said between 1,400 and 1,600 visitors can be expected at the Biloxi event.

“This is the sixth time we’ve been on one of their cards,” he said. “We’ve been dealing with them since 2009 and so far our team has been undefeated in their promotion.”

Jernigan said they hope to carry that into this event, but MMA is “a sport where both wins and losses can come very quickly.”

Mitchell is 1-0 going into this event. Mathews is 2-0 and Ramer, a black belt in tae kwon do and a blue belt in jujitsu, is 9-1.

Ramer will fight Adam Hall, Jernigan said.

“That should be a good one,” he said.

Scruggs, who is 6-0-1, will fight Kyle Bradley. Bradley, at 7-2, has more fights than Scruggs and hasn’t lost his last six fights.

The team will be in Biloxi on Friday for weigh-ins, with the fights on Saturday.
