The mixture of freezing rain, sleet and snow is expected to create dangerous road conditions Tuesday and Tuesday night, emergency management director David Adams said.

“Right now the forecast is for a wintry mix of precipitation (may include freezing rain, sleet, and/or snow) Tuesday and into Tuesday night,” he said. “The temperature is forecast to be in the upper teens or lower 20’s Tuesday night. This mixture will create dangerous conditions on our roadways.”

Adams suggested that residents prepare for the potential for bad weather today.

“It is advisable to make any trips today to pick up needed supplies; such as groceries and medications,” he said. “Road ways will be treacherous and may become impassable as this event unfolds. Ice on power lines and tree limbs may cause power line breakages and power outages. Please plan for this now. Please travel only when absolutely necessary.”
