The National Weather Service in Mobile has declared a “winter storm watch” for an area of the state that includes Escambia County. The watch will begin Tuesday morning and continue through Wednesday morning.

Weather forecasters are projecting a possibility of snow and wintry weather Tuesday night for south Alabama — including Atmore.

Several weather models are projecting the possibility of accumulation, with the average prediction of about 1 to 3 inches, although it is still early to tell.

High temperatures will be in the mid-60s Monday, dropping to 40 on Tuesday and into the 20s Tuesday night.
