Ice expected to thaw today

Temperatures should significantly increase later Thursday, helping to melt the snow and ice that has covered western Escambia County since Tuesday afternoon.

By 11 a.m. Thursday, the temperature is expected to rise about freezing, to 36 degrees, according to national weather reports. By 2 p.m., it could be as high as 48 degrees.
