Yvonne Albritton Barnhill Kirtley

On Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014, Yvonne Albritton Barnhill Kirtley, 82, crossed the veil into eternal rest at Bon Secour Regional Medical Center in Fredericksburg, Va., after a long battle with COPD. She was born on March 23, 1931, and was a native of Atmore. Her indomitable spirit and ever youthful personality will be missed by all.

The youngest of eight siblings, she was preceded in death by sisters, Agnes Albritton Hollingsworth, Gwendolyn Albritton Irwin, Ruby Albritton Rushing, Gladys Albritton Caraway and one brother, Marion “Bud” Albritton.

Survivors include three children, Debby Barnhill Lane of Fredericksburg, Va., Sheila Barnhill Hice and Marty Barnhill, both of Deland, Fla.; sister, Emma Jean Albritton McGhee, 92, of Lucedale, Miss., and Edna Albritton Raines, 84, of Pensacola, Fla.; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial services were held Saturday, Feb. 1, at Found and Sons Funeral Home in Fredericksburg. Interment was at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Va., where her late husband, William “Kirt” Kirtley, a military veteran, is buried.

The family requests that friends and loved ones make monetary contributions to the American Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.
