A failure to appear warrant was issued for McCants’ arrest in February, after he failed to appear at a scheduled court appearance in Brewton.

McCants is accused of physically assaulting Norman on Sunday, April 28, 2013, near a residence on Brooks Lane. Norman was taken by Lifeflight from Atmore Community Hospital to Baptist Hospital in Pensacola, where he died from his injuries.

McCants turned himself in to officers at the Atmore Police Department 24 hours later.
