Moore, Stokes win county races

Results from Tuesday’s primary elections in Escambia County:
In the race for Escambia County Tax Assessor, Thad Moore defeated Malcolm “Bub” Gideons, 1,868 votes to 409 votes.
In the District 1 County Commission race, David Stokes defeated Ted Jennings, 817 votes to 433 votes.
In the District 5 School Board race, Willie Grissett defeated Wilma Quarker Smith, 230 votes to 161.
In the District 1 School Board race, Kevin Hoomes and Debbie McDonald Quarles qualified for a runoff. Hoomes had 290 votes, Quarles had 159 and Randall Little had 132.
In State Senate for Escambia County only, Greg Albritton had 951 votes, Danny Joyner had 542, Stephen Sexton had 238, Jeff Peacock had 213 and Harry D’Olive Jr. had 111.
In the overall Senate district, with 73% reporting at press time, Albritton had 32%, D’Olive had 31%, Sexton had 17%, Joyner had 10% and Peacock had 10%.
