Martha Johnson Harris

Mrs. Martha Johnson Harris, 71, of Uriah, passed away Thursday, June 19, 2014, at her home.

Mrs. Harris was born in Frostproof, Fla., and had been a resident of Monroe County for 47 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Uriah.

She owned and operated Martha’s Beauty Salon in Uriah for more than 30 years. For the past 20 years, she owned “The Trophy Shop” with her husband Curtis.

Her father, Charlie R. Johnson, and her brother, Robert I. Johnson, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her husband, Curtis E. Harris of Uriah; her three daughters, Deborah (Ronnie) Gibson of Auburn, Selena (Mike) Dreadin of Uriah and Dianna Salter of Uriah; her son, Bruce Harris of Monroeville; her mother, Mrs. Jimmie Johnson of Monroeville; nine grandchildren, Derek Gibson of Auburn, Starla (Jason) Riggs of Auburn, Jessica Williamson of Uriah, Jennifer (William) Covan of Uriah, Tyler Harris of Monroeville, Zachary Dreadin, Cameron Dreadin, T.J. Smith and Marissa Salter, all of Uriah; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Monday, June 23, at the First Baptist Church of Uriah, with the Rev. Mark Whittington and the Rev. Bruce Chapman officiating. Burial followed in Uriah Cemetery.

Visitation was held from 6 p.m. Sunday, June 22, at the First Baptist Church of Uriah and continued up to service time on Monday, June 23.
