A little girl in Atmore gave the phrase “dog days of summer” a new meaning last week.

Lamaria JaKaysia Stallworth, who recently completed first grade at Rachel Patterson Elementary School, sold lemonade and popcorn from a stand on Ashley Street, from Wednesday through Friday. She was raising money to buy a flea collar, a bed and toys for her dog, Tip.

Lamaria said she has had Tip since he was born in January. She said she worked all day and enjoyed having fun and making money.

Lamaria is the daughter of Lamar Hansell and Kendra S. Hansell, of Atmore.
