Annie C. Burgess, 83, of Horseneck, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family, on Saturday, Aug. 2, 2014.
She was a homemaker, born in Fort Worth, Texas, on Aug. 29, 1930, to the late E.F. “Buster” and Annie Mae Hill Rice. She attended Booneville Baptist Church.
Her husband, Francis R. Burgess, and a grandson, Owen Fowler, preceded her in death.
Survivors are two sons, Richard (Shelley) Burgess of Horseneck and Mark (Angie) Burgess of Maxie; two daughters, Gloria Fowler of Horseneck and Crystal (Jerry) Flippo of Wetumpka; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be Thursday, Aug. 7, at 11 a.m. from the Booneville Baptist Church with the Rev. David Taylor and the Rev. Barry Lee officiating. Interment will follow in Horseneck Cemetery. The family will receive friends, Wednesday, Aug. 6, at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.
Active pallbearers will be Tyler, Nicholas, Rusty, Nathan, Patrick and John Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Bruce Akins, Tom Frazier, John Jay, Jerry Flippo, Ronnie Whorton, Jacob Burgess and Peyton Burgess.
Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home, Inc., is in charge of all arrangements.
