Atmore native Alan Ash defended his title Saturday, Aug. 2, finishing in first place at the Bushwacker 5K in Pensacola Beach, Fla.

Ash ran the race in a time of 16 minutes, 5 seconds, finishing well ahead of second place runner Tim Wenger of Pensacola. Wenger finished with a time of 16:21.
Other Atmore finishers included James Ash (26:56), Amy Knight (35:49) and Suzanne Anderson (38:16).

There were 912 runners in the race. Ash also won it in 2013, with a first-place time of 15:43.
