Lonnie Lee Rackard, 65, of Atmore, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2014, in Pensacola, Fla.
He was retired superintendent of Atlantic Marine Ship Yard of Mobile. He was born in Escambia County on Feb. 20, 1949, to the late Edgar and Ruthie Mae McGhee.
Mr. Lonnie was a member of the United Pentecostal Church of Atmore, a member of the
Poarch Band of Creek Indians and on the Board of Directors of Muskogee Inn.
Survivors are his wife of 43 years, Carolyn Rackard of Atmore; two sons, Jason (Mary) Rackard of Poarch and Jeremy (Jasmine) Rackard of Deatsville; five grandchildren, Kinzie, Destiny, Dallon, Khalia and Jackson; one brother, Eugene (Karen) Rackard of Chipley, Fla.; five sisters, Hazel (Ardis) Rolin of Atmore, Ruby (Jerry) Hawkins of Poarch, Dorothy (Joe Frank) McGhee of Atmore, Mary (Gary) Cordes of Jasper and Glenda Carlton of Poarch and numerous extended family and friends.
Services were held Thursday, Sept. 25, at 10 a.m. from the United Pentecostal Church of Atmore, with Pastor Mary S. Gibbs and the Rev. Coleman Pylant officiating. Interment followed in New Home Cemetery.
The family received friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2014 at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers were the Poarch Creek Fire Department, and honorary pallbearers were the Poarch Creek Tribal Council.
Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home, Inc., was in charge of all arrangements.
