Chevron on Howard Street robbed at gunpoint

The Chevron gas station at 303-1/2 Howard St. was robbed at gunpoint Wednesday evening, according to information released by the Atmore Police Department.
At approximately 9:12 p.m. Wednesday, APD officers responded to the robbery scene. Witnesses said that a black male suspect entered the store armed with a small handgun and demanded cash from the safe. He then fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.
Tracking dogs from Fountain Correctional Facility tried to track the suspect, but they lost his scent at a dumpster near North Main Street.
The suspect was reported as wearing a black long-sleeve hoodie sweatshirt, baggy black pants, black gloves, black shoes with white heels, and a black ski-type mask.
