Bessie Marie Owens, 91, of Atmore, passed away on Friday, Nov. 28, 2014 at her residence.

She was born on Nov. 3, 1923, to the late John Leslie and Bessie Trest Richerson. She was an active member of Bethel United Methodist Church and had been a member since 1955. She was a member of the Friendship Quilting Club.

Those who preceded her in death include her parents; a brother, Sibley T. Richerson; a sister, Ouida Bunch; infant sister, Madline Richerson; and two sons-in-law, Charles E. Gideons Sr. and David Davidson.

She is survived by her children, Dr. Rodney (Donna) Owens and Marilyn O.  Gideons-Davidson; grandchildren, Charles “Eddie” (Tammy) Gideons,  Tammy Gideons-Kaiser, Malcolm “Bub” Gideons, Ondrea Marie Gideons Williamson, Monica Gideons Ziglar, Johnathon (Angelique) Owens and Jason  (Melissa) Owens; 18 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, from the Bethel United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Diane Everette, the Rev. Jean Spikes and the Rev. Phillip Chase officiating.

The family will receive friends Saturday, Dec. 6, from 10 a.m. until service time at 11 a.m. from Bethel United Methodist Church.
