Michael ‘Mike’ Eugene Allen

Michael “Mike” Eugene Allen, 51, of Nokomis, passed away on Dec. 10, 2014.
He was born on Sept. 16, 1963 in Atmore. Mike attended Faulkner State Community College in Bay Minette and Real Estate School in Mobile. He spent most of his career as salesman at Harold Allen Mobile Homes in Atmore. He attended church at Atmore First Assembly of God.
Mike was known for his giving heart and always putting others first. In 2009, Michael was awarded the “Good Samaritan Award” by the Atmore Veterans of Foreign Wars for rescuing four people from a flood. Mike was also declared a “Hero” by a local news source after the event.
Mike was also known for giving aid during hurricane disasters by clearing roads and removing debris. In 2001, Mike generously donated his kidney to his father, Harold Allen. He was a hero and a Good Samaritan who was dearly loved and will be missed by all who were blessed enough to know him.
He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Moxness Allen and children, Chrystal Allen, Cynthia Allen (Josh) Davis and Christopher Michael Allen, all of Nokomis; his mother, Mary Ann Norris Allen of Bratt, Fla. and father, Harold (Janet) Allen of Atmore; siblings, Vicky (Josh) Black, William Marcus Allen and Ethan Harold (Paula) Allen of Atmore; his mother and father in-law, Frank and Frances Moxness of Atmore and his grandchildren, Dylan Purvis, Emma Purvis, Noah Allen, Canaan Davis and Isaac Davis.
Services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 13, at Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home, with the Rev. Don Davis officiating. Visitation was held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 13. Burial followed at The Woods cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Ron Moxness, Jonathan Hall, Christopher Allen, Matthew Hall, Ethan Allen, Danny Nall, Josh Davis and Dylan Purvis.
Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home, Inc., was in charge of arrangements.
