As officers arrived, they noticed a large crowd at the Houston Avery Park club house, and officers asked for the crowd to disperse from the party. The crowd then reportedly gathered around a silver Buick while they were leaving, and officers were informed that the vehicle had gunshot holes in it.

When officers investigated the vehicle, they discovered damage to the window and the roof, and bullet fragments in the passenger side of the vehicle. The car owner was located while he was dispersing from the party, and he told officers he was unaware of the gunshots.

According to the APD, witnesses to the incident led officers to Brown as a suspect. Officers talked to Brown, who reportedly stated that had been having problems with another person, related to harassment on Facebook.

Brown told officers that the harassing person was at the party at the Houston Avery Park club house. He also told officers that they spotted each other at the same time, when Brown’s harasser started to fire at him, and Brown then returned fire.

Brown said that the harasser took cover behind the silver Buick, and he and Brown continued to fire at each other, causing damage to the car. Both men fled the scene, but police were able to apprehend Brown at his residence.

The case is still under investigation, as officers are searching for the second shooter.
