Debbie Lorrine ‘Spudd’ Chambers

Ms. Debbie Lorrine “Spudd” Chambers, 58, of Atmore, exchanged her earthly life for Eternal Life on Thursday, March 5, 2015, at Mobile Infirmary, with her family by her side.

Debbie, known by her family and friends as “Spudd,” was the only child of her parents, Dan and Annie M. Locke, who await her in that Heavenly City. She was a graduate of Escambia County High School in 1974 and attended Faulkner State Community College and Troy State University, where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in 1978.

Debbie loved her family and her grandchildren were the apples of her eyes. In addition to her family, She loved football and was a Big Alabama fan, as she had her unique way of saying “Roll Tide.” She worked in the Escambia County (Ala.) tax collector’s office — Atmore branch for 29 years and was a longtime member of Greater Mt. Triumph Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her grandparents.

Those left to cherish her love and memories of her life are her son and his wife, Jonathon and LaFarrah Chambers of Bay Minette; four grandchildren and aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 12, at 11 a.m. from Greater Mt. Triumph Baptist Church, with the Rev. Willie Hawthorne, pastor, officiating. Inhumation will be in the Fairview Cemetery.

Public viewing will be held Wednesday, March 11, from 2 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home, and her body will lie in state at the church Thursday from 10 a.m. until funeral service time with Turner Funeral Chapel, LLC, directing.
