Prince Edward McMillan

Mr. Prince Edward McMillan, 77, a retired agricultural mechanic, and resident of Atmore (Poarch Community), accepted the Master’s Call to Eternal Life on Wednesday, March 18, 2015, at Baptist Hospital in Pensacola, Fla.

A native of Drewry (Monroe County), Mr. McMillan lived in New York for several years before moving back South and residing in the Poarch Community. He was a devoted member of Faith Temple Holiness Church and he loved farming, landscaping, remodeling, and carpentry.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ella Mae McMillan; two sons, Prince McMillan Jr. and Jerome McMillan; one daughter, Chelise McMillan; his parents, William A. and Mary Sue McMillan; one sister, Violena McMillan; and five brothers, Bishop Purvis McMillan, Johnny McMillan, George McMillan, Preston McMillan and Zackariah McMillan.

Those left to cherish memories of his life are three daughters, Gwendolyn McMillan and Brenda McMillan-Lynch both of Long Island, N.Y. and Pastor Glenda McMillan of Duluth, Ga.; three sons, Jeffrey McMillan of Buffalo, N.Y., Philip McMillan of Atmore, and Marvin McMillan of Long Island, N.Y.; one sister, Novella Johnson of Atmore; two brothers, Willie “Bill” McMillan of Atmore and Thawatha McMillan of Houston, Texas; 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 24, at 1 p.m. from Mt. Gillead Missionary Baptist Church (Freemanville Community) with Elder Darlene McMillan, officiating, and the Rev. Robert Davis, host pastor.

Retirement of his remains was held in Pierce-Rabb Cemetery with Turner Funeral Chapel, LLC, directing.
