Mayfest 5K run will help Grace ministry

A 5K race during Mayfest will help send Grace Fellowship’s high school youth group to a mission trip in Nicaragua later this year.

The “Walk-Run-Roll” Mayfest 5K will be held Saturday, May 2, in Tom Byrne Park. The race will get underway at 8 a.m. Because this is a “Walk-Run-Roll” 5K, jogging strollers and wagons are welcome to participate.

The race will begin along Medical Park Drive, near the ball fields in Tom Byrne Park.

The cost for those who pre-register before April 24 is $20. Registration on the day of the race is $25. Correct T-shirt size for same-day registration is not guaranteed; shirts will be available while supplies last.

Kids who are 6 and under, either running or riding, will be allowed to participate for free. No registration form is needed, but shirts still cost $10 for kids 6 and under.

There will be awards for the top male and female overall, and the top male and female in each age group.
Those age groups are: 9 and under, 10 to 14, 15 to 19, 20 to 24, 25 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, 60 to 69, and 70 and up. No “riders” are eligible for awards.

All proceeds will benefit Grace Fellowship’s “Ignite” youth ministry’s mission trip to Nicaragua on July 7-14.

Applications are available at Grace Fellowship, and at the Atmore Area Chamber of Commerce. Make checks payable to Grace Fellowship. Drop off completed applications and fees at Grace Fellowship, or mail to: “Ignite 5K, P.O. Box 975, Atmore, AL 36504.”
