After arriving, officers met with the cashier on duty, who told the officers that a black man wearing a white shirt, dark short pants and a yellow bandana around his neck, had entered the store.

The cashier told officers that the man spent several minutes inside the store, and then placed the bandana around his face before approaching the check-out counter. The cashier said the man reached into the pocket and pulled out a small handgun.

Another customer reportedly entered the store, and the man fled without taking any money, running across State Highway 21 toward Brooks Lane.

The Alabama Department of Corrections dog tracking team was called to assist with tracking the suspect, but he was not found after several hours of searching. However, during the search, Atmore police were able to learn the suspect’s identity, eventually leading to Anderson’s arrest.
