The Nokomis Volunteer Fire Department got some good news Monday after the Escambia County Commission agreed to provide the department with a radio tower.
Currently, the NVFD must use a communications tower in Baldwin County to get out transmissions, Chairman David Stokes said.
“They had some concerns with using that system, but now, we’re happy to say that they will be able to use a tower in their home county to serve their residents,” Stokes said.
The property was donated to the county by Range Holdings LLC. The Nokomis VFD members will upkeep and maintain the property, Stokes said.
