Dennis Devoice Jackson

Mr. Dennis Devoice Jackson, 67, of Germantown, Md., formerly of Perdido, fell asleep in the arms of Jesus at the residence of his son in Germantown on Sunday, May 24, 2015.
A native of Perdido, Mr. Jackson was a graduate of Douglasville High School in Bay Minette. He served his country during the Vietnam War in the U.S. Army. He was a devoted employee of Standard Furniture in Bay Minette. In his younger days he enjoyed playing the harmonica and quartet singing. He had a love for God, his family, church and Motown, gospel , and blues music, as well as his mother’s cooking.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Yancy Jackson and Velader Williams Jackson.
Those left to cherish his life with fond memories are his ex-wife/friend, Gina Jackson of Germantown; a devoted son, Dennis Wesley Jackson of Germantown; a daughter, Yolanda Denise McAllister of Detroit, Mich.; one brother, Joseph (Catherine) Jackson of Washington, D.C.; two sisters, Janis Baldwin of Oakland, Calif., and Deborah (Randy) McCall of Perdido; three grandchildren, six aunts, a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 4, at 11 a.m. from St. Thomas A.M.E. Zion Church in Perdido with the Rev. Humphrey Shuford, pastor, officiating.
Inhumation with military honors will be in the Morning Dove Cemetery. Public viewing will be Wednesday, June 3, from 2 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
His body will lie in state at the church one hour prior to the funeral service, with Turner Funeral Chapel, LLC, directing.
