MLK Little League completes 1st month of games

The Martin Luther King Jr. Little League is in full swing for this season, as teams played four games in May.

May 30: Braves 14, Blue Flames 4

The Braves opened with six runs in the first inning, on the way to a 14-4 win over the Blue Flames on May 30.

For the Braves, Keon Malone and Sheldon Williams each scored three runs. Quayon McCants and Jahiem Bowens scored two runs each, and Shemera Sinquefield, Brian Brown, Demon Luckey and Deaunte Burton scored one run each. Bowens was 3-for-4.

The Blue Flames had four players score one run each — Marshawn Johnson, Lorenzo Cooper, Layton Frye and Kendrick Bivins.

May 22: Blue Flames 14, Mets 13

The Mets and the Blue Flames played a high-scoring game May 22, with the Blue Flames winning by one run.

The Blue Flames were led by Kendarius Bivins, who scored three runs after earning three walks. Three players scored two runs each — Zaccheus Dawson, Kendrick Bivins and Zachariah Harris. Scoring one run each were Kobe Martin, Lajavius Johnson, Layton Frye, Marshawn Johnson and Lorenzo Cooper. Harris was 2-for-2 with two RBIs.

Jacori Dortch and Keon Malone each scored three runs for the Mets. Marcus Benjamin, Xavier Finney and Kaiden Arnold scored twice, and Nehemiah Tucker scored once.

May 19: Braves 12, Mets 10

The Braves scored five runs in the fifth inning to come from behind and earn a 12-10 win over the Mets on May 19.

For the Braves, Shemera Sinquefield scored three runs, and Terry Montgomery and Brian Brown each scored twice. Scoring one run each were Quayon McCants, Layton Frye, Sheldon Williams, DaaGaryn McCracken and Demon Luckey. Montgomery earned three RBIs.

The Mets had four players score twice — Jahiem Bowens, Keon Malone, Jalyn Woods and Elijah Thomas Jr. Jacori Dortch and Marcus Benjamin scored one run each. Bowens was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, and Malone had two RBIs.

May 14: Braves 4, Blue Flames 1

The Braves earned a 4-1 win over the Blue Flames on May 14.

Four players scored a run for the Braves — Sheldon Williams, Terry Montgomery, DaaGaryn McCracken and Demon Luckey.

Layton Frye was 2-for-2 and scored a run for the Blue Flames.
