Paul Chason, CEO of the Atmore Area YMCA, said Tuesday that the local organization has been chosen as the Ensley Lowe’s store’s “Community Hero Project” for 2015.

Fifteen employees from the Pensacola, Fla., area store will visit Atmore on Thursday, Aug. 6, from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m. While there, they will volunteer their time and skills to improve the YMCA’s appearance. Some of the planned projects include painting, updating the restrooms and installing fans inside the building.

“The YMCA is very fortunate to have the support of this great organization and looks forward to having their volunteers on site to help us make the YMCA a better place for our community,” Chason said.

Chason also extended an invitation for other volunteers in the area to join in the clean-up event at 501 S. Pensacola Ave.

“The YMCA would love to have local volunteers on site to assist the Lowe’s volunteers,” he said. “Let’s make this a community effort to enhance the YMCA’s appearance.”
