Several locals have been arrested for drug-related offenses over the last few weeks.

Agent Scott Walden with the 21st District Drug Task Force said the drug offenders were contacted between Aug. 22 through Sept. 6.

Walden said on Aug. 22, a male subject, Donald Alexander, fled from his vehicle after fleeing from officers.

“Once he fled, he locked the doors to his car, and once we got a search warrant, we retrieved 7 ounces of marijuana and digital scales,” Walden said.

Walden said Alexander has warrants of possession of marijuana I and possession of drug paraphernalia for his arrest.

Three days later, Walden said Justin Steel fled from Escambia County Sheriff’s deputies in the Canoe area.

“He was arrested at a residence on Old Brant Road a short time later,” Walden said.

Walden said after a search of the Old Brant Road residence, officers found digital scales and 2 grams of marijuana.

Steel was arrested for possession of marijuana I and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Additionally, DTF agents acquired a search warrant for a residence at 701 East Church Street after receiving information that marijuana was being distributed out of the residence, Walden said.

Walden said Lonnie Pate Jr. was taken into custody and charged with possession of marijuana I and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Walden said Pate had 10 grams of marijuana and digital scales in his possession.

On Aug. 29, the DTF, along with a Poarch Creek DTF agent, received information that an Andy Davis was attempting to sell methamphetamines.

“We made contact with him at Muskogee Inn, and he was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia,” Walden said.

Walden said Davis had 1 gram of methamphetamine and digital scales.

Walden said on Sept. 2, Atmore Police Officer Trawick stopped a vehicle in the Gulf Winds parking lot, and after a consent to search was given, located 13 grams of marijuana and a calibrated set of scales.

Stephen Burkett was then charged with possession of marijuana I and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The last two arrests came on Sept. 6.

Walden said DTF Agent Lopez, along with Officer Ken Sessions made contact with a vehicle driven by Cen Crystal Roberts. Roberts had warrant for her arrest for attempted murder out of Texas and Escambia County (Ala.).

Walden said Roberts fled from officers in her vehicle, and the male passenger — Fred Williams — fled from the vehicle once it was stopped.

Both were arrested. Williams was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance with the intent to distribute, escape III and criminal trespassing. Since Williams had more than 8 grams of crack cocaine, the intent to distribute charge was attached, Walden said.

In fact, Williams was found to have 12 grams of crack and 4 grams of powdered cocaine.

Once Williams was placed in hand cuffs, he fled from officers and ran into a residence, which warranted the criminal trespassing charge.

Roberts was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
