Men of Justice and Compassion Association, an organization that advertises social awareness, is coming to Atmore.

Lee Johnson, an Atmore native, said the MOJAC, a 501 (c) 3 organization, is based in Utah now, but is looking to relocate.

Most of what the MOJAC does centers around bringing attention or awareness to the social conditions that some of its members believe our society tries to ignore.

MOJAC calls each condition one of its children. There are 10 conditions that MOJAC works on, including animal cruelty, bullying, child abuse, domestic violence, drinking and driving, homelessness, littering, obesity, sexual assault and stalking.

Johnson said that the organization will use its awareness campaign to help make Atmore better. Some of the campaign highlights include:

• Bringing a Keep America Beautiful chapter to Atmore to be called Keep Atmore Beautiful.

“This would be a response and solutions to littering and helping people to assist in cleaning up our environment,” Johnson said.

• Bringing awareness to domestic violence highlighting the emphasis on the sources of the problem of domestic violence, honoring victims from Atmore who have fallen victim to domestic violence and starting a campaign to help regain donor dollars for domestic violence from breast cancer awareness.

• Starting industries or commercial ventures to help augment the nonprofit organization in the form of a sports bar, banquet hall and Planet Fitness franchise to help enhance the social etiquettes for the townspeople.

• Bringing decade class competitions to Atmore each year to bring about awareness to get people more socially involved.
