The City of Atmore will soon have a new trash truck rolling the streets.

The city council approved a bid to purchase a trash truck from Gulf Body Trailer and Works for $138,100 at its meeting Tuesday night.

Atmore Mayor Jim Staff said the new truck was needed, and won’t be on the streets until February.

In other business, the council:

• adopted ordinance 07-2015 to update the international building code to the most recent specifications. The last time the city updated the code was in 2005;

• declared 48 properties in violation of the weed and grass nuisance ordinance; and,

• approved an agreement with the Alabama Department of Transportation for cooperative maintenance of the public right of way on Highway 21 from mile marker 0.58-1.09.
