There’s no shortage of Christmas activities coming up in Atmore, Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Sheryl Vickery said.
The Santa in the Park at Heritage Park will be held on Tues., Dec. 1, from 4:30 p.m. until 7 p.m.
Vickery said Santa comes by train to the park around 4:30 p.m. and complimentary chili, hot chocolate and cookies will be served. The only cost at the event is that a professional photographer will be taking pictures of kids with Santa.
“We’ll have the train ride and the lighting of the Christmas tree will be at 5:15 p.m.,” Vickery said.
Two days later on Dec. 3, downtown Atmore will host the Jingle Bell Walk, where businesses stay open a little later to encourage shopping local to start the holiday season.
“We really want people to shop locally,” Vickery said.
The event lasts from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m.
“Some will have refreshments and entertainment,” Vickery said. “We want to get people to the downtown area just to remind them that there are stores downtown.”
Also taking place on Dec. 3 is the start of the Greater Escambia Council of the Art’s presentation of “A Christmas Carol.” Shows Thursday, Friday and Saturday with a matinee on Sunday.
To help the furry creatures in your life, the Santa Paws fundraiser at K-9 Kleaners will be held Dec. 5, from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.
Funds raised go to the Atmore PCI Animal Shelter.
Vickery said the shelter is in need of money and supplies.
To round out the holiday happenings in Atmore, the PCI Christmas Parade is Fri., Dec. 11 at 5:30 p.m., and the Chamber Christmas Parade is Dec. 12 at 5:30 p.m.
