Turkey bowling: The best holiday sport

Have you ever been turkey bowling?
When I was younger and around the Thanksgiving holiday, my older brother and I would go help my dad distribute turkeys to employees at Thomas Hospital in Fairhope.
A truck would be driven to the hospital earlier in the day, and it would sit with loads of frozen turkeys waiting to be given away.
To get ready for the coming hoard, we would play turkey bowling by sliding the turkeys from the truck down the loading ramp.
It was quite fun and brings back memories that I’ll cherish.
The holidays are an excellent time of year to be giving back.
From going to volunteer at charities to just helping somebody do simple chores at home, being able to give back is a must.
Whether you may think about it or not, there are a lot of people who are suffering because they lost loved ones and the holidays bring about a flood of memories or they can’t afford to provide a Thanksgiving meal or Christmas presents to their loved ones.
You can be a light to someone else’s darkness, just go out and see who needs help.
Back to turkey bowling; it’s been several years since I’ve actually helped my dad hand out turkeys to employees at the hospital. I wonder if they still do it to this day?
My plans for Thanksgiving are to go home and spend it around family and friends.
If I get the opportunity to help another person/persons out through charity or giving, I’ll take advantage.
Because a frozen turkey can go a long way, if you give it to those who need it the most.
