Escambia County Sheriff’s investigators and deputies arrested an Atmore man last week in connection with the Martinville Loop shooting that occurred on Sat., Nov. 28.

Thomas Darrelle McNeal was arrested at his place of employment on Wed., Dec. 2, on charges of attempted murder and burglary I, after investigators and deputies executed a search warrant at his home on the same day.

According to the ECSO, McNeal remains in the detention center on a $100,000 bond, and the case is still under investigation.

McNeal was one of three to four individuals, who entered Derek James Staples’ Martinville Loop home, and shot Staples while in the bathtub.

ECSO Chief Deputy Mike Lambert said last week that the intruders demanded or wanted to know if Staples had any money, and took a large sum from his wallet.
