Violet Harvey
Ms. Violet Harvey, 78, began her heavenly journey on Wed., Nov. 25, 2015, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, Kan.
She was a native of Monroeville, and had lived in Mobile and Mississippi before relocating to Wichita.
She leaves four daughters and one brother to cherish her life.
A funeral service was held on Sat., Dec.4, 2015, at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church of the Freemanville Community with Bishop Charles Davison serving as eulogist and the Rev. Robert Davis serving as host pastor. Inhumation was in Stallworth Cemetery with Turner Guneral Chapel, LLC. directing.
Eva Bell Sylvester
Mother Eva Bell Sylvester, 94, of Walnut Hill (Davisville Community), Fla. moved into her heavenly mansion on Wed., Dec. 2, 2015, as she transcended from her residence in Davisville.
A native of Uriah (Eliska Community), Mother Sylvester attended school in Perdue Hill. She worked as a homemaker and she enjoyed sewing, gardening and cooking. She was a member of Jones Street True Pentecostal Holiness Church, where she served as the “Church Mother” and sang in the senior choir.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Sylvester; her parents, John Mabin and Mollie Woods; all of her sisters, Nellie Autry, Retha Taylor, Johnnie Wright, Margaret Taylor and Annett Williams; and her one brother, Paul Johnson.
Those left to cherish memories of her love and life are a devoted and special nephew, Johnnie Taylor of Davisville; a special niece, Rosa Black of Montgomery; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
A celebration service honoring her life was held on Tues., Dec. 8, 2015, at Jones Street True Pentecostal Holiness Church in Atmore with Bishop Willie L. Williams, pastor, officiating.
A retirement of her remains was in St. Paul Cemetery in Walnut Hill with TURNER FUNERAL CHAPEL, LLC. directing.
Fonzie Harrison Goodson
Fonzie Harrison Goodson, 82, of Harrison, Ark., passed away on Wed., Nov. 25, 2015, in Harrison.
The son of Mack and Mattie Francis (Caraway) Goodson, he was born on April 2, 1933, in Atmore.
He served his country in the National Guard, was a welder and was an independent fundamental Baptist preacher for many years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a wife, Dorothy; and several brothers and sisters.
He is survived by three daughters, Peggy LaBellarte of Harrison, Ark., Ruby Edwards of Jakin, Ga. and Ginger Straub of Monroe, Mich.; one sister, Francis Weaver of Atmore; 10 grandchildren; three step grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and step great-grandchildren; and many others who will mourn his passing.
A visitation was held Sun., Nov. 29, at the Coffman Funeral Home Chapel in Harrison, Ark.
Funeral Services were held on Tues., Dec.1, 2015, from the Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home Chapel in Atmore. Burial followed in McCullough Cemetery.
Johnson-Quimby Funeral Home in Atmore and Coffman Funeral Home in Harrison, Ark. were in charge of arrangements.
