Atmore Public Library was awarded a Library Technology and Automation Grant through the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) grant program.

LSTA is a program at the Alabama Public Library Service, and the grant paid for four computers, Microsoft Office software and one laser printer. Additionally, free computer classes will be offered to the public. The classes will consist of basic computer knowledge, email, Internet access, Microsoft Word and Excel.

APL Director Cathy McKinley said the grant helps the library in such a big way.

“It’s tremendous,” she said. “Without these grants, we would not make it.”

McKinley said the Library Patrons of Atmore provided the local match to the grant.
