D.W. McMillan Hospital and Escambia County welcomed Ivorionna Chanel Kyles, its New Year’s baby, on Jan. 5.

Kyles – despite being born a few days after Jan. 1 – was the first baby born at the local hospital in 2016.

She is the daughter of Lasheha Cunningham and Tommy Kyles of Atmore.

She weighed 5 pounds, 14 ounces and was 17 inches long.

She is the granddaughter of Cassandra Cunningham of Atmore.

“I’m so excited to be a mom,” Cunningham said of the experience. “She’s our little girl. While most people (from Atmore) go to Bay Minette (to deliver), I wanted to come to Brewton to be different. Everyone has been wonderful here.”

Baby Ivorionna was delivered by Dr. Melissa Heath and is the couple’s first child.
