MCDAVID — A line trickled outside of the State Line Lottery shop’s door, where many were waiting to buy tickets in the hopes to win the PowerBall Lottery.
After nobody won the almost-billion dollar jackpot on Saturday, the next drawing will be tonight and it’s for an estimated $1.5 billion jackpot, which is a $930 million cash value.
Jodi Singleton and her daughter, Sophie, were at the head of one of three lines inside of the lottery shop, buying lottery tickets.
The Perdido resident said she does participate in the lottery, but not often.
“We pick our numbers and go the quick pick route,” Singleton said.
Ticket buyers can either get their numbers picked for them, or select their numbers to try for the pot.
Singleton said she uses her five kids’ birthdays as numbers.
For Mary McAdams of Citronelle, she doesn’t play the lottery much, but couldn’t pass up the chance to buy a ticket while on her way home.
“It was a spur of the moment thing,” she said.
On Saturday, there were 18,315,365 winners who won $159,080,965 in non-jackpot earnings, according to Powerball.com.
