Betty Hall Flowers

Mrs. Betty Hall Flowers, 58, passed away on Tues., March 1, 2016, in Mobile.

Mrs. Flowers was a native of Atmore and a resident Rabun for most of her life. Mrs. Flowers was hardworking, was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was kind to everyone that she came in contact with. She was of the Holiness Faith.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Flowers; parents, Robert Lee and Genell Hall; and brother, Clayton “Bo” Hall.

She is survived by her son, Jason (April) Hadley of Perdido; three daughters, Becky (Terry) Newsome of Perdido, Shawanna (Tyrone) James of Bay Minette and Jennifer (Gino) Flowers of Bay Minette; two sisters, Brenda (Pete) Cooper of Bay Minette and Sue Cooper of Atmore; sister-in-law, Nina Hall of Bay Minette; nine grandchildren, Brad, Terrence, MacKenzie, Jase, Haley, Tiara, Ty’Leaha, Traegan and Bella; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Sat., March 5, 2016, at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with Sis. Helen Stewart officiating.

Burial followed at the Bryars-McGill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Charlie Cooper, Chris Cooper, Tony Cooper, Allen Hall, Terrell Boutwell and Billy Gardner.

Honorary pallbearers were Jason Hadley, Terry Newsome, Brad Newsome, Terrence Newsome and Tyrone James.

Grover Allen Minchew

Grover Allen Minchew, 64, of Atmore, passed away on Sun., Feb. 28, 2016, in Atmore.

He was retired from Alabama River Pulp, born in Nokomis on April 2, 1951, to the late, Grover L. and Lizzie Harris Minchew. He attended First Assembly of God of Atmore.

Survivors are his wife, Mary Ann McKinley Minchew of Atmore; two sons, Travis (Michelle) Minchew of Brewton and Allen (Christie) Minchew of Crestview, Fla.; one daughter, Amanda (Chuck) Thompson of Flomaton; one brother, Bill (Pam) Minchew of Monroeville; one sister, Nettie (Marvin) Hollingsworth of Atmore; and seven grandchildren.

Graveside services were held Mon., March 7, 2016, in McCullough Cemetery with Bro. Drew Minchew and Bro. Allen Minchew officiating. Interment followed in McCullough Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Chance Thompson, Allen Minchew, Chuck Thompson, Drew Minchew and Austin Minchew.

Ida Mae Morris

Mrs. Ida Mae Morris, 92, passed away on Mon., March 7, 2016, in Jay, Fla.

Mrs. Morris was a native of Repton and a resident of Century, Fla. since 1953. She was an employee of the Florida Line Café in South Flomaton and Milky Way, and manager of the first deli of Piggly Wiggly, managed McCurdy Dairy Bar, Nall’s Grocery Jr. Food, Job Service, Family & Children Service and chamber of commerce. She was a member of the Cannan Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Martin L. Morris; parents, Lizzie and Jerry Odom; three brothers; two sisters; and daughter-in-law, Danette Morris.

Survivors include her son, Buddy Morris of Flomaton; two daughters, Sue and Kenneth Hall of Brewton, and Voncille and W.L. Tyree of Century; four grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Fri., March 11, 2016, at 2 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. Doug Odom officiating.

Visitation will be tomorrow, Thurs., March 10, 2016, from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home.

Burial will follow at the McCurdy Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Chris Hall, Zane Hall, Brad Morris, Steve Tyree, Michael Tyree and Martin Tyree.

James “Jim” Marshall Ward

James “Jim” Marshall Ward, 74, of Walnut Hill, Fla., passed away on Thurs., March 3, 2016, in Birmingham.

He was a cattleman most of his life, and was born in Atmore to Marshall L. and Helen Boone Ward, on Nov. 23, 1941. He was a member of Walnut Hill Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his father, Marshall L. Ward.

Survivors are his wife, Martha Sizemore Ward of Walnut Hill; his mother, Helen Ward of Walnut Hill; three sons, Jason Ward of Walnut Hill, Wayne (Sherri) Williams of Graceville, Fla. and Grant Williams of Atlanta, Ga.; two sisters, Marilyn (Terrell) Bridges and Mary Helen O’Quinn, both of Pensacola, Fla.; three grandchildren, Alyssa Ward, Cierra (Jaren) Bannerman and Jobe Corbitt; one great-grandchild, Kellyn Corbitt; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services were held Sat., March 5, 2016, from the Walnut Hill Baptist Church with Bro. Ted Bridges officiating. Interment followed in Walnut Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

Active pallbearers were Heath Ward, Brett Ward, Scott Ward, Horace Ward, Roy Glenn Ward, Russ Ward, Tim Tucker and Marshall Bridges.

Honorary pallbearers were Harry Ward, David Smith, Scott Garrett, David Garrett, James Earl Hall, Jimmy Davis, Todd Simmons, Willis Bowles, Silas Lee, Doyal Smith, Larry Boswell, Billy Ray Williams, D.B. Vaughn, Kevin Faircloth, Jimmy Mason and Jim Staff.

Linda Moshell King

Mrs. Linda Moshell King, 63, passed away on Thurs., March 3, 2016, in Mobile.

Mrs. King was a native of Jacksonville, Fla., and a resident of Perdido for most of her life. Mrs. King was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and a very hard worker. She was of the Holiness Faith.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Wilburn King; son, Bartis Hadley; and parents, Eddie and Virginia Starkes.

Survivors include her son, Joseph (Dawn) Hadley of Perdido, and Michael Alpha (special boy she raised) of Morgan City, La.; four daughters, Kay (Bubba) Bossard of Perdido, Faye (Rex) Phillips of Perdido, Beverly (Doug) Armentrout of Saraland and Tammy Hadley of Bay Minette; one brother, Robert (Linda) Moshell of Lynnwood, Wash.; two sisters, Patricia Dean of Perdido and Sharon Moshell of Bay Minette; 16 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on Sun., March 6, 2016, at the New Hope Community Church with Sis. Helen Stewart and the Rev. Malcolm Harrelson officiating.

Burial followed at the Bryars-McGill Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Timothy McKinley, Billy Dean, Jr., Eddie Dean, Anthony Dean, Michael Brown and Austin Dean.

Honorary pallbearer was Doug Armentrout.

Margaret Troutman Lockwood

Margaret Troutman Lockwood passed away on March 6, 2016, following a brief illness.

A native of Atmore and living most of her life here, she worked at McNeely and Fayard Jewelers for over 20 years.

Those left to cherish her memories are two daughters and one son, Deborah Soderlind, Shelia Ross and Clark Hill; eight grandchildren, Jeffery and Bryan Soderlind, Amy, Misty and Lacey Ross, Rob, Drew and Megan Hill; nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She is survived by two devoted sisters, Ouida McGill and Doris Cooper.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Harold D. Lockwood; her parents, Maggie and Carl Troutman; two brothers, Fred and Leon Troutman; and sister, Mary Mayson.

Active pallbearers were her nephews and grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Tues., March 8, from Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home. The Rev. Arnold Hendrix, pastor of Atmore First Baptist Church, officiated.

Burial followed in Oak Hill Cemetery.

The family extends a special thanks to Dr. Frances Salter, Atmore Home Care nurse Latressa Wilson and a devoted friend Patsy Alverson.

Thanks also extended to The Meadow Living Home for her short stay.

Quilla Jay Mason Hall

Mrs. Quilla Jay Mason Hall, 89, passed away on Fri., March 4, 2016, in Atmore.

Mrs. Hall was a native of Uriah, a former resident of Walnut Hill, Fla., and a resident of Atmore for the past 50 years. Mrs. Hall owned the first H&R Block tax office in Atmore, and owned and operated Hall’s Income Tax for 43 years. She was a member of the New Beginning Ministries.

She is preceded in death by her two husbands, Orville Mason and Stiner Hall; parents, Frank and Quilla Jay; three brothers; and two sisters.

She is survived by her two daughters, Ruby Phillippi of Atmore and Gayle (Thurl) Pearson of Atmore; 16 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Mon., March 7, 2016, at the Petty-Eastside Chapel Funeral Home with the Rev. C.L. Langford and the Rev. Thurl Pearson officiating.

Burial followed at Walnut Hill Baptist Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Jay Nichols, Eric Strehl, Daniel Higdon, Judd Arnold, Dakota Lundy and Jamerson Nelson.

Honorary pallbearers were Buddy Strehl, Jimmy Jay, Lawrence Brantley, Jimmy Mason, Ellis Mason and Muff Pharrls.

Joseph Robinson Jr.

Mr. Joseph Robinson Jr., 73, a resident of Stockton, passed away on Mon., March 7, 2016, at Thomas Hospital.

Funeral services will be Sat., March 12, 2016, at noon from the Greater St. John Baptist church in Stockton with eulogist, his daughter, Evangelist Kim Curry and the Rev. Nathaniel Martin, pastor.

Interment will be held Monday at Veteran’s Cemetery in Bay Minette.

Mayberry Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
